Mirage Room 14098 (non-smoking floor) Nights stayed: Friday-Sunday Rate: $119 Friday/Saturday, Sunday $85 (special event rate) Where booked: Telephone The room is located on the north side of the west wing, only a short walk from the elevator. There is a reasonable view north to see Treasure Island, the Stardust, the New Frontier, the Adventuredome at Circus Circus and the top of the Stratsophere tower. There are double curtains. The windows open, but the sticker on the sill says doing so will trigger a fire alarm. The entry is tiled, as is the bathroom. There is a closet with an in-room safe. There is no iron or ironing board. The door didn't completely close if left on its own, I had to push or pull to get the latch to engage. The main room is as expected: table with chairs, nightstand, alarm clock radio, TV in enclosure with drawers. There is one TV channel dedicated exclusively to the Mirage, one to Treasure Island, and another which covered other hotels (possibly MGM-Mirage resorts). There are individual reading lights in the ceiling above each bed. The heating/cooling unit had a weak fan and tended to leave the room stuffy even on high. However, if the thermostat was turned down to start the AC, then the fan seemed to do a better job. The bathroom is tiny. Don't open the door if someone is using the toilet. The water pressure in the shower is fine and the spray pattern adjustable, though not to massage-style jets. The fan is entirely inadequate at keeping the mirrors from fogging up if the door is closed. Lots of bottles (and they restock them daily if you take a bottle with you -- such as lotion to help in the dry or smoky air). There is only room for one in the bathroom, but there is a separate sitting area just outside the bathroom for applying makeup. There is a magnifying lighted mirror here (for the ladies), and a special shaving mirror (for the men) inside the bathroom.
