Becky Behnen and Linda Johnson are to be commended.  A difficult
situation has been brought to a good conclusion.  Becky initiated the
contacts that led to this successful resolution.  Linda used her bully
pulpit in an extraordinarily creative, diplomatic and yet
straightforwardly honest manner.

I believe it was the sincerity of Linda’s efforts that persuaded Becky
to set aside her understandably hurt feelings for the good of the
WSOP, the premier event in poker, as well as for the overall good of
poker.

Becky has preserved all of her legitimate rights and reinvigorated the
prestige of the WSOP.  The decision to extend a new invitation to Paul
Phillips and Richard Tatalovich removes any questions as to
legitimacy.

The Toke Pool is now being split in an understandable, fair and, in my
judgment, appropriate manner.  I am told that the tokes last year
amounted to only about 1.7% of the overall prize pools, and the
dealers got 65% of that, or about 1.1% of the amounts in the prize
pools.  The 1.5% going to the dealers this year represents an assured
increase in their compensation.  The same is true of the approximately
1% going to the traditional members of the floor staff.  On
reflection, I believe that reserving and paying roughly ½ of 1% to
other employees as bonuses for long hours and difficult working
conditions during the WSOP is also appropriate.
