Subject: World Poker Open - Day 12 From: lvdlrs Newsgroups: rec.gambling.poker Date: Wed, Jan 16, 2002 2:10 PM Message-ID: <3C46191B.9C52DF24@midsouth.rr.com> I had a chance to talk to Linda Sherman a couple days ago. She come strolling into the upstairs live game area near the end of my graveyard shift. She said she had some time to kill and couldn't sleep. After talking a couple minutes she mentioned something about playing in the 7 Card Stud tournament. Having known her to only play limit holdem and omaha 8 or better, I was surprised she wanted to play in the Stud tournament. Oh yeah, she said, stud's one of my better games. I wished her good luck and went about my duties on the floor. Today I happened to pick up a Nolan Dalla write up sheet left strewn on an empty table and saw to my surprise that Linda had placed third. The accomplishment was even more astounding when I looked and saw a who's who as the other place finishers. Then it hit me. Yesterday was the final of that tournament which started at 4 pm. Our conversation took place 8 hours earlier at 8 am. She had already played the day before and made the final table. No wonder she couldn't sleep. Now I know why that gleam was in her eye as she told me Stud was one of her better games. I guess so! I can only imagine the apprehension, the nervousness and the eagerness to get back to that final table she must have felt at that time. Way to go, Linda. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Just remember us little peons on your way up. Gary (G-man) Philips
