Well I almost played the $540 pot limit holdem + rebuys today, but
backed out when I found out that there was an add-on at the end of the
first two hours regardless of how many chips you had.  I was planning on
just playing like a rock until the rebuys were over, but the add-on
meant I would be at a major disadvantage if I didn't take it too.  It
turned out there were 50 players who did 49 rebuys, prize money was 19K
for first, so knowing now that there weren't that many rebuys I wish I'd
played.  Instead I played like a dufus in 3 satellites, lost them all.

Today's final table of the Omaha hi/lo was quite entertaining as
Amarillo Slim was heads up with Brian Saltus, Slim talking constantly
trying to pick up reads, Brian staying silent most of the time.  Where I
was sitting with a buddy we could see Brian's cards a lot of times so it
made it more interesting for us as we knew what was happening.  Brian
simply couldn't hit a flop and eventually lost to Slim.

Someone (sorry, forgot who) posted on rgp a week or so ago about how to
handle the grumpy locals in ring games, well today, without even knowing
about that post, HUXLEYCAT (an rgper) did exactly what was prescribed...

He sat down in a 10-20 game while waiting for a bigger game, took the
big blind and got QQ.  The betting got capped pre-flop, and he slow
played the Qxx flop which was again capped.  He then slow-played the Q
turn which was again capped, won a huge pot, then the grumpy local with
KK started griping about the hand.  So HUXLEYCAT said "I came to enjoy
myself, I don't want to play in a grumpy game", racked his chips, and
off he went (he was leaving anyway for his other game).  I wish I'd been
at the table to hear what happened after that :)

On Friday they are starting the $225 buy-in events (starting at 2pm),
that should bring in some more players, I'll be playing those for sure.
Otherwise it's going to get awfully quiet when the 1K events start up.
