Subject: SARGE 2 - Personal Highlights From: abespringfield@yahoo.com (Abe) Newsgroups: rec.gambling.poker Date: Mon, Mar 4, 2002 6:29 PM Message-ID: <4dc5fb7c.0203041829.2611ad35@posting.google.com> Just sharing some personal moments that I will remember from SARGE 2 in Tunica last weekend: KUDOs----Another great organizing job by Steve and Randy. Also Jimmy Sommerfield from the Horseshoe Poker room again ran all the tournaments well, set up special games, tables for us, etc. Teresa and the rest of the staff were also very helpfull. Seemed like many of the dealers did remember us from 2 years ago. Only complaint about the facility remains the smoke. A JOAN QUESTION----Innocently asked "JoanSchmengie" how SHE got to be a schmengie. There must have been some trauma involved in this--because she blushed, looked away, and would not answer the question. OLDBEAR WINS BOUNTY-----But how are you going to collect that $1 that Cookie John put up on me? You deserve it---for calling my all-in raise with that crummy pair of 9's. A SCHMENGIE MOMENT----The NLHE is about to go to 2 tables and I am the small blind. "The Real" Lin Sherman is the big blind and Randy (the king of all the schmengies) is utg. Schmengie opens with a 3X raise. All fold to a late player who triples that to go all in. I have not yet looked at my hole cards and Schmengie immediately says "I call it". Well----is this a good time to fold without looking at my cards? What am I going to call all-in with besides AA? SOOKIE'S BAR----The newly expanded and renovated Sookie's Bar and entertainment complex looks great. Millionaire, entrepreneur, Sookie told me on Friday to be sure to come back the next night. They were having a big dance and party. "The band starts at 3am." LESSONS FROM WES-----Wes T. made all 3 final tables---and I had heard some astounding things about his Omaha game. But I had never been at a table with him or gotten to talk with him until Sunday morning. Well--what he showed me then was how to blow through 2 racks in a very tight passive 4-8 game. Showed me so well, that I did it too. THE RIDE HOME----Very difficult 2 years ago having to listen to Don Adams yap about winning tournies, BAAP, etc. Much better this year with Cookie John only having the two 3rd place awards. Maybe next year, I'll just drive down by myself.
