I had some good luck and came to the final table as the chip leader, with seven places being paid. Alas, I called two shorter stack's all-ins with AK and lost them both, leaving me one of the shorter stacks. I went out in 9th place when I lost my third flip and they of course did a save for 8th. My first "actual" bubble of the trip. Then I went to the D to try the Sigma Derby machine. I doubled my investment. Well, I only played it once (to see it play), put in one quarter and got back two. EBOLA was a blast, I did OK but not great, only got to 19th. I enjoyed that mix of games. Then into the cash 3-6 dealer's choice until 3am. I planned to watch the Sigma Derby the next morning but I missed it. I was curious as to how Dramaha was going to play, but I liked it fine. I used my lammers one at a time, after losing my stack. I know that 's not the optimal way for a good player to use them, but with this being the first time I played the game I wanted the second and third chance more than the big stack up front. Anyway, I got down to 9th place and then went out, which was my second "actual" bubble when they did a save for 8th. As it turned out that was five minutes before Chowaha was to start, so I could say that I deliberately went out so I could make the start of Chowaha. It wouldn't be true, of course, but I could say it. Chowaha went pretty well but again no cigar, as I finished this one 13th. Then more 3-6 Dealer's Choice, again into the wee hours. I used to prefer 4-8 DC but the way I was running this year 3-6 let my money last longer. I was dragging the occasional big pot but losing overall. Part of the reason is that since I only get to play these games twice a year, I want to play, and I tend to play too many hands and stay in them too long. Saturday, the NLHE. My bounties for EMBARGO were all items that I picked up in a Colorado pot shop with marijuana logos. For NLHE I was wearing my bounty, a "Rocky Mountain High" tee-shirt (over a long-sleeve shirt). We got down to nine, three-handed at three tables, and I was the shortest stack at my table. For a long time we just kept swapping chips back and forth, none of my all-ins were called, although I did go down some more along the way. Nobody was going out at the other tables either. Then I jammed with A3 -- into an A10. Well, it wouldn't have mattered if I'd jammed with AA, because he got two 10's on the board to make trips, so I gave him the shirt off my back. They were paying seven but did a bubble save for 8th, so I got my third "actual" bubble of the trip. So, off to the Second Chance Lowball. KS draw lowball, 2-7, Aces high. Well I kept getting lots of aces. Like being dealt two of them, often with a second pair. I was even dealt three Aces rolled up. It was so sick it was funny. Then when I did get a playable hand the draw was a pair, every time. Luckily, before I busted it turned and I won some pots and got back up to my starting stack -- but not for long, this time I didn't even make it halfway. It was fun, though, as always. Then the last 3-6 Dealer's Choice. And here, I want to make a public apology to all of the players who were at my first DC table Saturday night. There was another player there who I just don't seem to fit with, we're like oil and water. He likes to give orders, I don't like to take orders from someone who has no authority to give them to me. We had an incident and got into it, and it got loud and unpleasant for everyone (if anyone cares what it was about, e-mail me privately). I'd already put in for a table change since this table didn't allow stud games to be called, and luckily I was able to change tables a short time later. So, for my part in the row I apologize to all of the players at that table, and anyone at a nearby table that may have been annoyed by the fracas. I had a great time after my table change, but my running bad continued. When my last chips went at about 3am I decided to not rebuy and called it a night. I walked around Fremont Street a while to bring the adrenaline down, grabbed a bit to eat, and went back to my room for one hour's sleep before heading for the early flight home (the cheap fare). All in all I had, as usual, a GREAT time and I want to give a great big THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this event possible. I am looking forward very much as usual to BARGE 2015!!!!! -- Joe Long aka ChipRider jlong@chiprider.com A++ G+ PKR+ PEG+ B++ M+
