From: Barry Kornspan Date: Mon, 8 Aug 2016 14:38:54 -0400 Subject: [BARGE] A few BARGE notes... To all - It was great to see everyone this year! First, thanks to all of you who voted for me in the BOD elections for another two year term. I promise to do what I can to keep this BARGE going for at least another 26 years! Thanks to those of you who expressed their feelings about the new BARGE.org website. If you have any suggestions for content, want to provide content, or just general ideas, please send them on either on the List or off-list. As a side note, the BARGE.org site was down from sometime Thursday afternoon through Sunday. According to David Low, the DNS provider was under a DoS (denial of service) attack which was preventing access to the site. Our site itself was never unavailable for maintenance. David made some changes this morning which made BARGE.org available again, and will prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future. Apologies to those who tried to get to the site and couldn't. I have a question for the group - what do you think about putting Rodney's video from the Dealer's Tournament up on our website? I do have some other thoughts which I'll pose in a separate note. Tournament results and our Bylaws will be updated very shortly. I'd like to also add photos to a special section of the website, so feel free to send me whatever you think is posting-worthy. In case you haven't heard about the Escape Room event that I ran on Friday night, a group of us had the opportunity to be one of the initial play-testers of a new escape room in Las Vegas. Their current location is in Los Angeles, and they're now very close to opening in Vegas. Their LA room is called "The Basement", and can be found at thebasementla.com. Their Vegas website will be thebasementlv.com. As an escape room junkie, this room was simply amazing in its immersiveness and set design as well as its challenging puzzles. It has a few special features (not telling) that you won't find in many other games. The room in LA has a 12% escape rate, and according to the owner, the LV game is the LA game x 5! With that, I am especially proud to tell you that we were the FIRST ones to beat this room EVAH with 55 seconds left on the clock (45 minute time limit)! If you have an interest in this kind of challenge, I strongly urge you to visit them when they open for real later in August. They are located at 3430 Polaris, off of Spring Mountain. Tell them that you are part of the poker group that was the first group to win! This WILL BE an annual unofficial event at BARGE in the coming years - I'll find the best room in town and put it together...I already know what next year's game will be! Finally, kudos to the Organizers. This BARGE was absolutely fantastic, and they did a great job! I'm looking forward to even better things to come! -- Barry "Mr. Raise" Kornspan Member, BARGE Inc.
