Barely, as health problems with my mom (2nd place in the SO Hold'em at the Venetian and friend of Phil Gordon) flared up just before the Good Doctor and I were supposed to leave for Vegas. Thanks to my brother's help, we were able to leave Wednesday at 6 PM to start the drive to Vegas. It's been a long year of health problems and other assorted family upheavals and we needed some kind of break. A few highlights of the drive: We found out that the Good Doctor's car, a used RX-350 we got after her RX-300 drowned in the Houston floods, likes to go very fast. We found out that I have an uncanny ability to sense upcoming small town speed traps on I-10. We found out that if you drive through a cloud of bees at 100 mph, they leave a thick residue on your windshield that smells of honey. In any case, we got to the 4 Queens at midnight Thursday. I sucked in the tourneys. I had a great meal at Pizza Rock with Frank, Bozo, Chuck, and friend of Chuck's in the DFS business. I played O-8 for cash for the first time with Frank, Tracy, and other BARGErs that I can't remember right now, but it was fun, I was slightly drunk, and I made a small profit. Had many great conversations with old and new friends. Not sure how coherent I was, though. Sunday morning we packed up and headed back to Houston. In the mountains of Arizona I saw not a double, but a triple rainbow. Not sure what that means. I guess I should have pulled over, made a video, and raked in big bucks on You Tube. Thanks to all of y'all for recharging my psychic batteries. Edmund Hack "On to BARGE XVI!"
