From: "Ronald Nutt" Date: Mon, 10 Aug 2009 20:58:19 -0700 Subject: [BARGE] Thanks for the memories. Highlights from our week at Binions. First thanks to the organizers for a great, no fantastic, job. Mick, = Nick, Chuck and esp. Peter. What a trooper to put up with pain to make = sure we had a great time. You guys ROCK!!! I played all my poker at Binion's except for one session at Colorado = Belle in Laughlin on Monday. A great job was done by the floor and = dealers. I thank them all. My best memory is when Tomlison won the pot in Oklahoma. I was across = the room playing 2-4. A local next to me remarked that the bad beat must = have been hit. I looked over and realized it was the $3-6 dealers choice = game so it couldn't be the bad beat. We explained the game to old local. "So they're cheering because they lost money?" "Yes the dealer won the pot." "That's crazy. You guys are idiots." "Yes we are, sir. Yes, we are." CHORSE. Thanks to my Mooosecock teammates, we made money but failed to defend = the title. I win one pot in the first round of Stud but fail to win a = hand in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Ante, fold, ante, fold, rinse and = repeat. Thanks again to Mickdog and Nick for running this thing. I'm = also playing 3-6 DC. Murray plays my chips and stays even but Scott = Samarel loses some of my chips. I get them back before cashing out for = sushi. Thanks for nothing Scott. :>) When we were playing Missippi Stadugi (Missippi stud with Badugi for = low) this hand comes up. I have A24 for a 3 card badugi. I need a low = heart. We get to 7th street and the dealer realizes that he hasn't = enough cards. Out comes the 3 of hearts as the community card. The first = player makes 2 pair with the card that should have been his. I take low = with a perfect badugi. 2 other players make three 3's and a straight = with the 3. Talk about getting gang raped. Next hand he gets screwed = again with the community card. Wow. The Tournaments. PL Chorcheval: Went out on the last hand before the first break. What am = I doing playing a game that I suck at? Then add some variant to it? Stud shootout: Went out on the last hand before the first break. I'm = noticing a disturbing trend here. TOC: I survive the first break. Yay. However I go out before the second = break. OK so I'm gonna rock the NL event. NL Holdem: I play the worst poker in my life. AK, call and see the flop, = fold. 88, call see the flop, fold. Patrick raises, I call with AJo. Flop = comes jack high. Patrick checks, I bet, Patrick raises, I raise all in, = Patrick beats me into the pot. KK. IGHN when I don't suck out on him. = Giving him my bustout gift, I'm so mad at myself. Donkey, donkey, = donkey. First out at my table and around 5th overall. ARGGGGHH. I was gonna leave and play some video poker but remember about the group = photo so hang around still cursing myself. Somebody mentions Goldie and = I remember to go over and give him the $20 for the G4G bet. So 0 for 4 for tournaments. But Carol cashes in the significant others stud tourney. 4th place and = $25. First time she's played poker. Maybe I should stop playing and = start teaching. Food, glorious food. We went to Laughlin on Monday. Played spread limit holdem at Colorado = Belle. $2-6 with a single $2 blind. Lost a little bit. I really don't = like this format, would rather play fixed limit 2-4 or 3-6 instead. Ate = dinner at Mark Twains and was disappointed that they don't have the = Wisconsin cheese soup anymore. Apperently people found it too salty so = they don't serve it anymore. It had beer in it and was the tastiest soup = I've ever had. Boo. Tuesday we went to In&Out on Sahara for dinner. We get there around 5:30 = and the place is packed. We manage to get a small table next to the = window and a table of noisy kids. The burger and fries are worth the = noise and the wait. Wednesday was The Egg and I. We drove Foldem and Rodney joined us. The = food was its usual fantastic self and the company was as well. Thanks to = the Jersey boys for a wonderful meal. We decided to try the Ethopian restraunt for dinner. The food was good = but it was so slow. The big platters were delivered but the smaller = meals took forever. We got there just after 5 but our food wasn't = delivered until 6:30. Thanks to Ron G for organizing. Thursday was Sushi. Good food, great company. Thanks to Asya and Ben for = organizing this. Saturday morning we met Diana, Steve and Spenser for breakfast at = Magnolias at the 4 Queens. Magnolias have spam and eggs but I decide on = something else. Maybe next time. The Banquet What can I say that hasn't been said before? The food was good. Thanks = to our mysterious benefactor for the drink tickets and Asya for the = extra tickets. Nick was great at speaking and the tribute to Don and Steve was = touching. I really missed Nissman this year. I was going to pick up a = Bachmann/Cummings DVD for him as I know he was disappointed they weren't = with the Guess Who when they played on Fremont Street in May. I had already thanked Nolan for getting Doyle to speak and he said that = all he did was make a phone call. Well Nolan thanks again for the phone = call. Thank you Doyle for taking the time to come and speak with us. I'm sure = there are other things he could be doing on a Saturday night. Thanks to the Golden Nugget for the banquet room. Video poker. Won $400 on a 5 cent Dueces Wild when I hit a natural Royal Flush. It = was the high point of the week. When I got back home I realized I hadn't = played any table games including craps as I missed the craps crawl. Thanks to everybody for making this the Best BARGE Ever. But the biggest = THANK YOU goes to Rodney Chen for the pictures and video. Rodney you are = our superhero. You ROCK!!! Only 350 days to go. I can't wait. Ron N
