Doug responds saying that he is staying at the Plaza. I ask him why and he says its nicer than Binions. Doug wasn't able to attend Barge 2005 at the Plaza, so I wasn't sure where he got that impression but I accept his response. I land Monday afternoon and I get an SMS message from Doug which says: "Was the cafe that we go to every night at the Nugget or the Plaza?". I respond Nugget. About 15 seconds later, I realize the error that he has made. He had confused the two hotels. I check into Binions and meet up with Doug who has now figured things out. We walk over to the Nugget to see if he can get a room. For whatever reason, they are fully booked on Monday night. We find him a room on-line for Tuesday->Sunday and book it. We then wander back to the Plaza to check him in for a single night. We find out that his reservation isn't actually to start until Tuesday. Fortunately they have a room for that evening and its cheaper than his original booking so he will get $10 refunded when he checks out the next morning. 7-2 game ---------- In an episode of High Stakes poker, they were playing the 7-2 game. I managed to get this game going with a few players for $1 in both the GN NL tourney and then the Saturday Barge NL tourney. This cost me about 1/3rd of my stack at the GN, but the story gets better. In the Saturday tournament, 4 of us play the game at our first table. In a hand, the board comes down A K 7. Merlynn who is a pretty conservative player is betting all the way to the end, to the point of putting her opponent all in for T650 on the river. He decides to fold, she flips over 7-2 and collects $3 from those of us playing. Well played! ---------------------- -dave
