From: Bjgkaraoke Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 02:27:12 EDT Subject: [BARGE] My First BARGE Thursday morning I met Steve Nissman and Mark G. at the Bicycle and we drove to Vegas in Steve's car. Arrived Thursday afternoon and checked in at the Plaza. Played some 2-4 HE and 4-8 Horse at Plaza. Met a lot of new people and can't list everyone, as I don't want to forget anyone and besides have a really bad memory for names. After I busted out of the TOC on Friday, took a cab to Wynn's. The poker room was quite comfortable and pleasant. I played 4-8 and made a few bucks. The casino is really impressive. The food is quite expensive, but I didn't care, since I was on vacation. I saw some people from LA I knew and also played with some BARGE people in my game. The staff at the Wynn was efficient and friendly. All in all it's a good place to play. I especially enjoyed the roominess at the tables, since the games were nine-handed, not ten. Saturday, I played some at the Plaza, then took a cab to the Bellagio. One of the main reasons I wanted to go to Las Vegas was to see the Bellagio and Wynn, since it's been 15 years since my last visit. The Bellagio was ok, and I made some money playing 4-8 again, but I liked the Wynn better. I didn't want to play any higher, because I don't want to risk too much of my bankroll when I'm away from home. Saturday night was the banquet, and I was at the table with Steve Nissman, his friend Gayle, Mark G., and Kyle. As everyone else has said, the speaker, Will Wheaton, was very entertaining. Sunday, Steve N. and Gayle gave Mark G. and me a ride to the Wynn, and Mark and I both played poker there for awhile then took a cab back to the Plaza. I played some at the Nugget, then Binion's. All in all, I made a few bucks playing poker and managed to cover my expenses and left with a little more then I brought, so I consider it a successful trip. Next time, I plan to enter more of the tournaments at BARGE, since this seems to be where most of the fun occurs. I still don't know very many of you BARGERs, but I hope to change this.. Meanwhile, maybe I'll see some of you at ESCARGOT next year. I've enjoyed reading your trip reports since I've been back. See you all next time.
