From: "Sander, Warren" Subject: [BARGE] barge==not a trip report I don't usually do trip reports and this isn't one BUT I wanted to bring up a couple of things. I've been to every barge execpt the informal siggraph one and the first one. Fich and I had a discussion and for the life of me I can't remember if I went to the 93 event or not. I know one year I didn't by the chips and I have the 94 set.. Anyway, this was one of the most enjoyable barges EVER. I think that Chuck did a great job and Peter took credit for it with an aplomb and style to be envied (good job peter). I will say that Peter gave up a lot on this barge in order to run things. as for Zimmers -- your eyelids are getting heavy, Quick needs your money, kill with KK and stand pat --. I think the folks at Binions went out of their way to do anything to make us happy. From doing games we wanted to fixing Air Conditioners to Breakfast Comps to running the tournies on time and smoothly. I will agree with the smoke issue but having the 'non-smoking' tourney area and the non-smoking tables in the 'slot' area things were not that bad. The felts even looked fairly new on the tables. I want to give a big thanks to Patrick for the Pins, Spinners, Chips (with the rest of the committee), the Tourney info system (but 500/100 is a strange limit) but so is 35/70. I do think the calcutta has outlasted it's usefulness. It was started before there was a banquet to get everyone together, have a little talk, and some fun. Too many folks want to play in the friday night tournies around town to keep it happening. Maybe it's time to sign-off on it and do something online for 'points' that can be converted to $ at the events or some other sillyness. I'd like to say keep going to binions. I know there are folks that don't like it. Hey what can I say. I've never been to the WSOP so that controversy doesn't really effect me. I don't think we will get the same treatment someplace else. Not just in ring games but in the tournies themselves. We got a LOT of play. If binions is around next year lets go there. As for me it was a good barge year, I placed in two events, won some money for the first time in 'last longers' and the calcutta, won my Quick bet, and even didn't loose much in team chorse. we only lost $8/man cause of last-longer bets. If only ring game action was as good. As told by ICE I couldn't win a hand in 10/20 horse. Good thing I got most of my money in when I was behind and didn't suck out.. I guess I Warrened myself. So overall, after at least 10 barges I've attended I think the state of barge is good and look forward to next year. Fargo in 1 month, 25 days, 18 hours 47 minutes and 3 seconds. -warren
