OKAMOTO'S EEFL DICTIONARY ASTRONOMY -- n. 1. What many EEFL managers claim to either teach or study in order to convince the other managers that they have a life outside EEFL. BOB -- n. 1. The server's own name for the "player" that broadcasts the EEFL MOTW. Not to be confused with Bob, the manager of LCA. BUFFUMESQUE -- adj. 1. Describes a player or team that performs significantly below its expected level. For a player (esp. GK or FW), this means either letting in many shots (for a GK), or being very inaccurate (for a FW). For a team, this means having low SL FW's or DF's being allocated the shots. Derived from Manager Steve Buffum of Overwhelmed by Task, who often suffered numerous instances of these particular indignities. BWARF -- vi. 1. To vomit. Used as a euphemism on the EEFL server. Invented by Ayari Iskander, manager of PBG, to describe his reaction to his team's exploits. # DOUG -- n. 1. The "Typhoid Mary" of EEFL, having infected # no fewer than four other victims with the EEFL virus. # See "Astronomy". DOUG -- n. 1. The third programmer of the Adirondack Automata, after Bruce Cota and Prune Wickart. Has not bettered the record of either of his predecessors. FEFF -- n. 1. Nickname for Jeff Brown, manager of EOA. Stands for "Fake Jeff". 2. A punching bag. FIM -- n. 1. Nickname for Jim Shiffer, manager of FCA. Stands for "Fake Jim". vt. 1. To perform with much more effort than should be required. HEFF -- n. 1. Nickname for Jeff Okamoto, manager of AH. Stands for "Hentai Jeff". vi. 1. To fail repeatedly and spectacularly. HOLY GRAIL -- n. 1. An object from Arthurian mythology, the Quest for which could only be achieved by the greatest and purest knights in the realm. 2. An MVP in EEFL. HUG -- vt. 1. An action often used on the EEFL server to express affection that probably wouldn't be done in real life. IDLER -- n. 1. One who logs onto the EEFL server, but neither say anything and nor responds to pokes for long periods of time. ISKO -- n. 1. Nickname for Ayari Iskander, manager of PBG. JOSE -- n. 1. A manager who makes multiple trades and ends up with a team worse than s/he started with. KICK -- vt. 1. An action often used on the EEFL server in response to and/or retaliation against an outrageous statement or fact of Real Life. KPOGP -- vi. 1. abbrev. for "Kicks Pippy on General Principles", an action often taken on the EEFL server. MANGE -- n. 1. Nickname for Magnus Nilsson, manager of COM. Pronounced "mung-eh". An electronic sulking machine. A "Gloomy Gus". MARTIN -- vt. 1. To be brutally crushed, either through superior firepower, or the cruel calculations of the RNG. Often requires liberal quantities of Preparation H to relieve the pain. Derived from Martin Rugers, manager of GMN. MERSON -- n. 1. A top-class player. Derived from the top-class striker Paul Merson of the Arsenal football club in the English league, Premier Division. MOOSE -- n. 1. Nickname for Richard Mosher, manager of GUN. Created by Michael Sargent. 2. A big, stupid cow. MOTW -- n. 1. abbrev. for "Match of the Week", an event which is often held on the Football server, which resides on the machine eefl.lysator.liu.se on port 2345. MVP -- n. 1. abbrev. for "Most Valuable Player", a slightly anachronistic term referring to a team which, in a 3-match session, wins at least twice but does not lose any match. See "Holy Grail". MVP MONSTER -- n. 1. A player who benefitted from the older MVP rules, in which that player automatically gained 1 SL for each MVP earned. These players included Toivonen, Wulunka, NETUNREACH, Taylor, and Crawford. NARBLES -- n. 1. A portion of the male anatomy especially suceptible to being kicked. PIPPY -- n. 1. Nickname for Richard Peiper, manager of BNB. Corruption of "Peiper". POKE -- vt. 1. An action often used on the EEFL server in order to attract another person's attention. PROMOVALS -- n. 1. That time during the EEFL season when Goal Differential becomes incredibly important and anti-blowout conditions are removed from orders. Also a time before which many strange trades occur. PRUNE -- n. 1. Nickname for William Wickart, the EEFL Commissioner. 2. A person often mentioned, but seldom seen. RC -- n. 1. abbrev. for Rules Committee, a group of EEFL managers that like to argue about everything except possible changes to the EEFL rules. RNG -- n. 1. abbrev. for "Random Number Generator", a device used by Commissioners that causes managers to gnash their teeth, pull their hair out, and generally be miserable. SANDBAG -- vt. 1. To downplay the strength(s) of a team while at the same time emphasizing the supposed weakness(es) of the same team. Often accompanied by the wailing of women, gnashing of teeth, and pulling out of one's own hair. SANDBAGGER n. One who sandbags. Often used to describe managers from Seattle and Vancouver, especially SEA, EOA, LSB. SARGE -- n. 1. Nickname for Michael Sargent, manager of DED. Pun on homonyn "Sergeant" of his last name. SHARK -- n. 1. One who sharks (q.v.). vt. 1. To negotiate a deal that is deliberately unbalanced in your favor. Most often descriptive of managers from Sweden, Seattle, and/or Vancouver. SHITE -- n. 1. Feces. Used as a euphemism on the EEFL server. Invented by Mark Brewer, manager of PA, to describe his team and its exploits. Often spelled "SH*TE". SWEDISH -- adj. 1. Describes a manager who moans incessantly on the EEFL server about how bad their life is. See "Mange". TANK -- vi. 1. To deliberately field a lineup that has no chance of winning or drawing. (Often used towards the end of a season by a team that, no matter how well it performns, is going to have to play in a promoval tournament. By tanking, the team can be at the bottom of the division and thus get the first pick in their division. Also used by teams in the Cup who have no chance of beating their opponent. By tanking, the team can be nearly completely rested before playing in the Plate.) TIGGER -- n. 1. Nickname for Sean Selitrennikoff, manager of WAH. TIMPPA -- n. 1. Nickname for Timo Ojala, manager of OUL. WULUNKAN -- adj. 1. Extremely powerful. Often accompanied by numerous expletives. ZEUS -- n. 1. See "sandbagger". Pronouned "zee-us", not "zoose". . -- vt. 1. Term used on Football Server as shorthand for "kicks " (This no longer works on the current server)
